Jele, the Womens' branch of the mixed choir "Zvonimir" (formed in April 1972) in Vancouver under the auspices of the Drustvo Prijatelja Matice Hrvatske) first performed in November 1980. From that time to the present, Jele have performed with distinction, drawing from the deep well of original Croatian music and folklore. Their repertory includes all Croatian regions.

Besides regular performances for the sponsor, DPMB, in Vancouver, Jele took part in many events of the city of Vancouver, such as: summer festivals, Christmas concerts, euro-folklore, representing the Croatian community of Vancouver and British Columbia. At Croatian folk festivals in Calgary, Edmonton, Prince George, Seattle and, of course, Vancouver, Jele always and ably demonstrated the depth and richness of the musical folk heritage of Croatia.

Jele, as part of "Zvonimir", appeared in well-deserved winning performances of ethnic songs in Toronto and Quebec City in 1995 and 1996, respectively.

Today, as always, Jele are ready and welcome guests at all important functions of different Croatian organizations and the Catholic parish in Vancouver. With a steady influx of new members, Jele have a solid core and great future potential.
