The Croatian Folklore Ensemble "Hrvatska Zora/Croatian Dawn" was established in 1974 under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Parish "Sv. Nikola Tavelic" in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Although relatively small in number, the folklore ensemble truly stands to represent traditional song and dance. Consistently backed by the live tamburica orchestra, Hrvatska zora embodies the flavorful aspects of music, song, costume and dance. Since its inception the ensemble has performed all across Canada and the United States.
Hrvatska Zora performs year-round at various events in the local community (Winnipeg, MB). The culmination of the year is the ensemble's performance at the Croatian Pavilion "Zagreb" at Folklorama, the nation's largest cultural festival lasting two weeks every August. Every year they make their presence known at the Western Canadian Croatian Folklore Festival.
Ensamble objectives are to maintain and encourage the spirit and preservation of Croatian culture and folklore through song, dance & music for future generations. We are also trying to ensure a relationship & cooperation with other Croatian folklore ensembles, as well other cultural groups. Hrvatska Zora continues it's commitment to the preservation of Croatian culture to this day!!
HRVATSKA ZORA ALUMNI is a group of former performers still young at heart. The members of this group consist of performers from Hrvatska Zora's inception (1974) to the present day.
